3. David Cummins Ph.D
About:
My family, primarily dysfunctional and from the Midwest, tried our hardest to love one another. I was in and out of trouble during my teens, which we could call the “lost” years. Thankfully, my mother sent me on an Outward Bound wilderness course. It was a life-changing experience that stretched me in new ways and helped me see the world and myself in new ways.
I worked in an inpatient psychiatric ward after receiving my psychology master’s degree, where I gained valuable knowledge on effective and ineffective mental health therapy. Yet I believed that the birth, education, employment, and death models of life didn’t fit who I was. I decided to continue and ultimately found work with a Wilderness Stress Challenge program for at-risk adolescents.
It was simultaneously my best and worst job. Many anecdotes are associated with those four years, most humorous, but some tragic.
I decided to traverse the Western states for a while, playing and working in mental health roles after completing my Ph.D.
During my internship, I concluded that Boise was the most excellent place for me, and I have been highly content here for the past 20 years. I spent four years working at the BSU counseling center before opening my practice, which has been very successful.
Due to my success, I launched North End Wellness, a small group practice in the North End, where I collaborated closely with certified counselors five years ago.
Building a counseling facility around these methods will enable me to provide Boise residents with more enjoyable and effective therapy.

4. Cameron Preece, Ph.D. LMFT
About:
I adore doing psychotherapy work. I’ve been observing my clients’ bravery, perseverance, and ingenuity as they work to strengthen their relationships and those with their families for the past 27 years.
A bio-psychosocial systems view informs my counseling and interventions for couples, families, and individuals. I firmly believe that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” As a result, I pay close attention to how a person’s body, mind, and social systems contribute to the problems and solutions that arise in life.
Also, I think that psychotherapists are most successful when they demand changes from themselves that they support in people they treat in therapy.
